Christmas is on its way!

As I was sitting in my recliner chair this morning in the very early hours, my thoughts turned to Christmas.
The recliner chair is my every-morning-place for writing my first thoughts of the day. It's usually before sunrise, so I have quiet time for writing because the world outside has not woken up. My wife Ruth is still asleep, so I write undisturbed.
So back to Christmas. I don't get excited about the commercial emphasis of Christmas, but I do value the drawing together of family members that Christmas brings about. It's one of those times of the year when the best in family membership comes to the fore.
We have a time of exchanging presents and I see those as expressions or tokens of our love for one another. The presents are valued, I like to think, as reminders of what it means to be within the affectionate caring of a family.
Perhaps you have someone in your family who has a love of Italy. "Unpacking Italy" might be a present that shows your love for someone because it is chosen so carefully to match his or her interests. i would like to think that the book has brought an assurance of family love to someone.
It is a spiritually renewing time, and so I wish all who read this blog the good greeting of "Merry Christmas", but also the greeting, "May the deep peace of heart and soul be yours this Christmas time.
